All types of recreational diving medical from any agency can be provided. These include PADI, BSAC, SSI, SSAl, ScotSAC, Diving Ireland and others.
Dr Sean Holt has been diving since 2001 and is a qualified PADI Rescue diver. He has been approved to perform diving medicals undertaken by a national network of approved UKDMC medical referees.
Dr Sean Holt has previously been approved by the HSE (AMED – Approved Medical Examiner of Divers) to perform commercial diving medicals.
In October 2024 he passed the AIDA 4 Assistant Instructor/ Master Freediver course and then March 2025 AIDA Competition Safety Freediver by Vertical Blue Professional Safety Freediver® in Dahab Egypt. His personal bests are: 40m Constant weight with fins; 40.3m Constant weight without fins; 90m dynamic with fins and 4 minutes and 6 seconds static breath hold.
If you are wishing to join onto a recreational course, dive on holiday or with a club or dive company, you are highly likely (or should) to need to complete a medical questionnaire. If you have a ‘yes’ answer to one of medical questions then you will likely need to obtain medical clearance before you can start any in water activity.
PLEASE NOTE: Some diving and travel insurers now require a completed self declaration medical questionnaire to be submitted to them before they will provide cover. Please download and complete the appropriate forms before you attend.
Please bring a copy of your ‘medical summary’ from your NHS GP. Administrative staff at your surgery should be able to provide this for you, without the need for a consultation with your GP. There may be a small charge from your surgery. We follow the WRSTC Medical Guidelines and UKDM guidelines and advise whether there is a Relative risk, Temporary risk, Severe risk or an Acceptable risk based on the information provided. There may be a need for further investigations and/or a referral to a Diving Specialist Doctor. If you are have Respiratory, Neurological or Cardiac history you will very likely require further tests.

Standard Examinations cost total: £108 (includes VAT).
Examinations for an asthma: £130 (includes VAT).

Clinical information relating to your condition(s) in question, these can be really helpful and sometimes may prevent me from having to write to your GP and/or specialist.
